 Paul Reif

I’ve spent my entire life living and breathing the love of the outdoors and nature. Born at home in front of a fireplace on Lake Loramie, Ohio, in 1933, we later moved to an area just North of Dayton where I grew up living in the corner of twenty acres of woods. Art has always been in my mothers family and as soon as I could hold a pencil I was off and running. But then art had to go on hold.

After a 4 year stint in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and 34 years as a civilian working for the USAF, I retired in 1988. This period of time also included my wife of 54 years and I raising six children, 5 boys and a girl.

And now 22 years later I’m getting ready to start painting number 500. I still use watercolor, but, have added acrylics and pastels into my studio. Saying studio, in 2003 with the help from one of my sons , we converted the garage into a 15’ x 32’ studio with windows looking out into our 10 acres of woods, who would not want to paint.

Current affiliations are Dayton Painters and Sculptors, Dayton Visual Arts, Ohio Plein Air Society (Historian) and Springfield Museum of Art.
