Artist Bio :
I was born in southwest Ohio and have continued to
reside in the same area with my husband of 36 years on our family farm
near Xenia. Being a farm wife has allowed me to experience many aspects
of nature. I have watched our neighborhood landmarks large and small
slowly disappear over the years. I want my art to influence people, in
the cities and on farms, to appreciate, respect and preserve the land and
animals which sustain all of us. When viewing my work I want people to
have a powerful emotional response to the connection I portray of nature.
Since early childhood, I have been creating art about the
world around me. I can remember my first painting. In the third grade my
landscape watercolor of a field of fodder shocks was hanging in the
classroom for all to see. From that day forward I was captivated for
life. I continued my art in college earning an Associates degree in Fine
Art and a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education. I have been teaching art at
Carroll High School for over 20 years and it is a joy to guide young
artists towards their dreams.
Nature provides wonderful subject matter and never ending
artistic challenges. My lifetime of experience in the outdoors enables me
to understand accurately the subjects of nature and its truths. I invite
you to share my vision and enjoy my point of view of nature.
