Artist Statement :
I have always enjoyed drawing and art ever since I was
very young. People have always fascinated me and are my favorite subject
matter. I love capturing their likeness and personalities and transferring
that to canvas and paper. Nature, in all forms, landscapes, floral etc. is
also a favorite subject matter to paint. Expressing my love of nature and
the serenity and peace that I find there is also something I try to share
through my work.
Through the use of color and expressive brushstrokes, I try
to convey my thoughts and feelings of the subject matter I am painting.
Always trying to go one step further in the approach I use to portray my
subjects, I try to push the colors a bit more or lay down the oils or
pastels a bit more expressively. In the simple white winter landscape or
the green trees of summer, how much color can I find?
In painting people or landscapes I hope to invoke feelings of
familiarity and peace, and to remind the viewer of the beauty of the
everyday that surrounds us.
