Artist Bio: Edith Dean is a Columbus, Ohio, native who grew up in a family immersed in the musical arts. Unable to sing on key, Ms. Dean learned to express herself through the visual arts. She earned both a BFA and MFA in Printmaking from The Ohio State University and also attended the Kent State University Blossom Summer Art program. Recently, Ms. Dean has had solo exhibitions at The Michael Orr Gallery, The Ohio State University, and Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Ohio. She has also participated in numerous regional and national group exhibitions. Her work is included in private and public collections, including McGraw Hill in NYC, Bradley University, Peoria, IL, and Dickinson State College, Dickinson, ND.

Artist Statement: About her work she says, “A while back, I left the fancy salon where I used to have my hair done - in our city of a million-plus population - I walked to the back of the parking lot and looked out. I saw a cornfield and laughed with pleasure at the contrast. In a world filled with computers, abstract ideas and material madness, the serenity of a landscape is a blessing of counter balance. If art is communication, then I want to communicate that which soothes. It is disappearing too fast.”
