“Zoar Bicentennial Celebration” – Zoar, Ohio
Date and time – Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9 am to ?
Location -198 E 3rd St, Zoar, OH 44697
OPAS Host: Undetermined
We have been invited by the Historic Zoar Bicentennial committee to participate on this special day. This is a note from them.
2017 is our Bicentennial year, and with that we have many exciting events and programs planned. One of the new events we are planning is Maifest, set to take place May 20, 2017. Part of that particular celebration is in honor of the opening of an art gallery located in the rennovated Bimeler House. The first exhibit will feature work from the Cleveland School of Artists, who came to paint the picturesque village in the first part of the 20th century.
We are hoping to have some painters come and demonstrate plein air painting as part of the one-day festival. Is this something the Ohio Plein Air Society would be interested in? It would be an opportunity for visitors to the village to interact with artists who, while styles may differ, paint in a similar way to those who painted the pieces exhibited in the gallery. We will have some art supplies available for visitors to also try their hand at drawing and painting outdoors.
Come and paint for the day. We are welcome to sell our paintings later in the day. More info to come on this one.
