Little Miami River
Mary 1, 2011

Above: Charter Member,
Martha Carmody, went to the
Little Miami canoe launch site in
Lake Isabella, a Hamilton County Park. She braced herself against
the rain
with two umbrellas! Now and then a hiker or
hiking bunch came down
and parked nearby.
Martha says, "The river was dark,
the sky was dark, the mud was thick
everywhere, and I found a path to the river that seemed to have a
spark. I got a fair beginning before I had to
box up. I
think I will go back to
finish it, but here is my start."

Monica Anne Achberger, who also painted along the Big Miami River
in Loveland, OH on May 1st.

Ash Cave
(see Program Page)

Several members said they were going to
come to this paintout earlier in the week, but rising gas prices and
falling temperatures kept them all home, except for Nancy Achbergrer
from Cincinnati.

Nancy says: "It
was cold, 37 degrees at best, but the natural rock of Ash
Cave sheltered from the wind. Hand and foot warmers kept me
comfortable.
Surprisingly, there were
a lot of people out hiking, families with all ages! And I was the only
artist there. I'm so glad my brother, Bob, came along for company.
After I painted we went
for hike at Old Man's Cave. The landscape is incredible!

Mitzi
Lai painting in
the Cuyahoga National
Park

"Daffodil Trail is the place I go every year to check out thousands
of daffodils of all kinds.
So much rain this Spring, I knew if I did not grasp that couple
hours of dry time,
I would never have the chance to paint those daffodils this year
again.
There I was trying to catch the last leg of those beautiful blooms
before
they washed away, or were damaged by the rain." - Mitzi Lai
